Noia

Noia is 36 kilometres from the city of Santiago de Compostela. One of its main attractions is the old town itself. There are three religious constructions that stand out from the others. The San Martiño Church is an example of the so-called Marine Gothic style (15th-16th centuries), with a unique ship with buttresses, a seven-sided polygonal front over a ribbed vault, and a façade with a rosette. The Santa María A Nova Church, of the 14th century, also comes from the Marine Gothic style, with remains of the previous Romanesque building. Furthermore, it holds the largest collection of guild and nobility tombstones from the Middle Ages and modern times. The Convent of San Francisco is Gothic-Renaissance (early 16th century).

In addition, the highest part of Noia is the remains of the Fortress of Tapal and the ancient medieval walls. Next to it is the Pazo de los Churruchaos, one of the several ancestral mansions or pazos of Gothic origin found in the village, such as the Xouva House or the Pazo Dacosta, among others.
