The municipality of Los Realejos stands in the middle of the fertile valley of La Orotava, in the north of the island of Tenerife. Near Puerto de la Cruz, it has ample tourist attractions, including beaches and inland routes.
Los Realejos a became municipality in the mid-20th century after the towns of Realejo de Arriba and Realejo de Abajo merged. Its border occupies the western portion of the La Orotava Valley, which is characterised by the singular beauty of its natural landscapes.On its coastal side, Los Realejos has wide beaches such as those of La Fajana, Castro and El Socorro, the latter ideal for surfing. Throughout its municipal area, it is easy to find good examples of island architecture. Two of its main monuments are: the church of Santiago (15th century) and the church of La Concepción.Los Realejos is a good starting point for excursions around the north of Tenerife. The closest towns are La Orotava, declared a historic and artistic monument, and El Puerto de la Cruz. Nature lovers will be able to visit the Teide National Park, which houses abundant endemic species of local plant and animal life. You can complete this route with a visit to the Corona Forestal Natural Park, which surrounds the Teide National Park.
