La Alberca

La Alberca was the first rural town in Spain to be declared a National Historic Monument. A tour of its historic centre reveals the traditional essence of its houses and streets, built centuries ago.

The Plaza Mayor square, with a square floor plan and surrounded by colonnaded arcades, continues to be the centre of the town's social life. The most representative religious building is the La Asunción parish church, built in the 18th century, which preserves a granite pulpit from the 16th century and a splendid Gothic processional cross in gilt copper, as well as a figure of the Cristo del Sudor attributed to Juan de Juni.
