Jerte is 36 kilometres from the town of Plasencia. It is in the Jerte Valley, an area of countryside where cherry trees abound. In springtime these trees come into flower - a stunning display that attracts crowds of visitors. A sight well worth seeing. The Cherry in Flower fiesta is also held at this time, whose programme includes exhibitions, tasting sessions of typical produce, open air dances and concerts by folk groups.
