Another notable place is the St. John's Church, in a Gothic-Mudéjar style. This temple, on which construction begun at the end of the 15th century, contains the tombstones of the noblemen of Hita. The coffered ceiling inside the temple is particularly beautiful. The Plaza Mayor square, the remains of the Church of San Pedro and the Herrerian cloister of the Monastery of Sopetrán, on the outskirts of the village, are other places worth visiting.If you visit the museum house of the Archpriest of Hita, you will find the atmosphere of an old mansion. This site also includes a collection of masks and posters from the Medieval Festival, which has been celebrated since 1961.The Medieval Festival is, without a doubt, an unbeatable opportunity to get to know the city. It usually takes place in July, and for a few days, the entire town is transported to the Middle Ages. The locals dress in period clothing, and the streets are filled with market stalls and performances by jesters, minstrels and jugglers. There are also jousting tournaments, and you can attend a theatrical performance in the evening in the Plaza Mayor square.
