Gipuzkoa
Washed by the River Urumea and nestled at the foot of Mount Santa Bárbara is Hernani. Only 9 kilometres from San Sebastián, this small town is famous for the picturesque streets that earned it the status of Cultural Interest Site.
Among its monuments are the sixteenth century Church of St. John the Baptist, the Town Hall and Gudarien Enparantza or the old Main Square. It also has the Chillida-Leku Museum, dedicated to the great Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Today it is a place dedicated to research. Hernani is surrounded by a charming natural landscape with forests dotted with numerous prehistoric remains, including dolmens, cromlechs (megalithic monuments) and burial mounds.
