Zamora

This beautiful town, declared Property of Cultural Interest, is in the heart of the Arribes del Duero Nature Reserve, stands on a hill, 64 kilometres from the city of Zamora.

Its privileged location offers a spectacular view of the green landscapes of Arribes del Duero. It is especially notable for its very well conserved popular architecture. Along its inclined streets you will find old houses, with a robust appearance and with coats of arms, or the most scenic corners of the area such as the access arch to the castle area or to the streets of the Torrejón or the Nogal. The remains of some of the walls of the castle of Doña Urraca are still there. The Church of the Assumption is one of the most interesting monuments: although it has gothic characteristics, it still has many Romanesque portals with unique capitals. The chapels of Santa Colomba, La Soledad, Santa Cruz and San Albín must also be mentioned. Another curiosity are the town’s underground wine cellars, some of which can be visited. There are also routes for hiking enthusiasts to discover the nature reserve.
