Mountains and valleys outline the landscape that surrounds Esterri D’Àneu, in the region of Pallars Sobirà, Lerida. This natural setting is excellent for taking excursions to discover the Aigüestortes National Park.
Sheltered by the castle of Valencia, and near the Noguera Pallaresa river, we find the primitive town of Esterri D’Àneu, formed by a network of small squares and narrow streets, lined with houses that are excellent examples of rural architecture. There we can admire interesting buildings such as the church of Sant Vicenç (15th century), whose only remaining structure is its western façade, and the new parish temple, erected in the 18th century. White water rivers, meanders, and lakes make up the surrounding landscape, the perfect setting for outdoor activities. The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park is the best example of the natural diversity found in the region of Alto Pirineo, Lérida. In addition to its environmental diversity, this town also boasts a rich architectural heritage, since it is the home to the Romanesque group of Vall de Boí, declared a World Heritage.
