The streets of the historic quarter of Castro de Rei are a good example of a typical urban layout in the towns and villages in the region of Lugo, called Terra Chá. In the highest part of the town there are remains of primitive fort in the town. Together with this old settlement, there are also remains of the medieval castle built in the 16th century. Part of the fort's defensive elements and the walls are preserved. The area of Castro de Rei is popular because of the archaeological findings and the many forts that exist. One of the best known forts is Castro de Viladonga. The facilities also have a museum with an exhibition, which is an excellent way to complement your visit.
