Artenara

Gran Canaria

Almost the entire municipality of Artenara forms part of the Tamadaba Nature Reserve. In this setting framed by the massifs of Altavista and Tamada stands the Tejeda Crater, the biggest volcanic basin on the island.

Outstanding in the town of Artenara is the hermitage of the Virgen de La Cuevita and the surrounding area, in which there are major archaeological sites. The inhabitants still make ceramics, which means the local handicrafts are another of the area's tourist attractions. Artenara is located in the Tamadaba Nature Reserve, an area filled with pine groves, which makes outdoor activities such as hiking a possibility.
