Renaissance art in its historic old town. Alcaraz, some 80 kilometres from Albacete, is outstanding for the monuments in its historic old town.
Of these, special mention should be made of Plaza Mayor square (16th century). It is a solemn, sober construction, flanked by the Trinidad and El Tardón towers. Nearby is the Lonja del Corregidor (market), dating from the same period. At the highest part of the village you will find the walls from its 13th century castle. There are other interesting buildings to be seen, such as the María Magdalena Convent. The best thing is to wander its streets and discover the interesting sites in this village in the La Mancha Region.
