It is a perfect synthesis of the collections, housed in this Toledo museum, where the two rooms dedicated to El Greco stand out in particular.
The exhibition includes works of painting, sculpture, gold and silver work, popular art and archaeology. The tour begins with the El Greco rooms, where you can see up to 14 canvases signed by him or by his workshop. Among them, the Inmaculada Oballe stands out, a piece of plenitude that synthesises his unique painting style. The exhibition also includes works by other important artists from the Golden Age, such as José de Ribera, Juan Bautista Maíno and Luis Tristán, as well as works by contemporary artists such as Alberto Sánchez and Antonio López, among others. In addition, visitors will find a recreation of a “chamber of wonders” or “cabinet of curiosities” in one of the rooms, which houses a selection of religious goldsmithing from the 16th to 18th centuries, along with other interesting objects and instruments.
