Sawdust Carpets at Corpus Christi in Elche de la Sierra

In 1964, ten people from Elche de la Sierra (Albacete) surprised the town by making a carpet out of sawdust for the Corpus Christi procession. This beautiful tradition has been preserved since then.

Every year the "carpet" associations try to outdo themselves by creating art with sawdust. During the Corpus Christi weekend, as well as these beautiful colourful carpets, there are many activities for all the family.
