One of the most popular races in Spain is held on the last day of the year in the capital: the 10 kilometre San Silvestre Vallecana.
This race is divided into two parts. We have the San Silvestre Popular race, open to any runner over 16 years old and the San Silvestre Vallecana Internacional, a much more exclusive event in which there are only 2,000 places for runners who have a qualifying time of less than 39 minutes (men) and 45 minutes (women) to cover the 10 kilometres. Those under 16 have their own race, the San Silvestre Vallecana Mini, which takes place on December 28, in aid of the Gasol Foundation.
