Popular Competition of Wrought Iron Grilles and Balconies

Many houses in the centre of the city of Cordoba, in Andalusia, adorn their balconies and wrought iron grilles to participate in this competition which each year selects the most beautiful entrant.

The scent of jasmine and orange blossom and the colour of the flowers fill the streets these days during the celebration of the Popular Competition of Wrought Iron Grilles and Balconies, which is held simultaneously with the well-known Cordoba Courtyard Contest. These are days to be spent in the street, enjoying flamenco and delighting in the beauty of the courtyards, balconies and wrought iron grilles decorated in the traditional Andalusian style.
