“La leyenda de Tartessos” mountain bike race

Four days of pure UCI MTB in the spectacular setting of El Rompido, in Huelva.

This competition forms part of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The competition consists of three marathon stages and a time trial to close (if a classification hasn’t been determined).It starts in Valverde del Camino, a town with many vestiges of its English and mining past. Its furniture and shoe workshops are well worth a visit.The following day, the race reaches El Granado, in the region of Andévalo, where the runners follow the Guadiana nature trail to Sanlúcar de Guadiana and its Castillo de San Marcos and, from there, to Puerto la Laja.From Huelva, on the idyllic promenade of the Ría and the quay of the Río Tinto company, the third day begins, passing through unique places such as the Marismas del Odiel natural area and the pine forests of Aljaraque, Gibraleón and Punta Umbría, before returning to the capital city of Huelva.The race finishes in Cartaya, in a pine forest setting, very near the beautiful fishing village of El Rompido.The aim is for the contestants to muster all their stamina to become genuine “legends of Tartessos” (the name given by the Greeks to the first Western civilization they knew and which was developed in this area of Spain).More information: www.laleyendadetartessos.com
