All the events and celebrations in this festival revolve around the equestrian world.
The Jerez Horse Fair is full of joy, fun and purebred animals. The nobility of the creatures that you can admire during this event has made it internationally famous. Dating back to ancient times (1284), it was originally a livestock market, evolving over the centuries to become the festival it is today. Highlights include the equestrian competitions and the stalls set up in the González Hontoria park, which is decorated during these days with garlands and flowers along the promenades and streets.
During this festive week, all kinds of horse-related activities take place, such as international show jumping and dressage competitions, equestrian rallies, select livestock exhibitions and auctions. During the day, González Hontoria park fills up with hundreds of horse riders and carriages that parade through the streets of the fairgrounds in a majestic spectacle worth seeing. Booths of the fraternities and clubs are set up in this space, and their decoration revolves around a different theme each year, with prizes being awarded to the best ones. Inside, you can drink fine wine, sample local products and dance Sevillanas until the early hours of the morning in an atmosphere of incredible joy and fun that seems to transform the park into one big flamenco tablao. There are also food stands, drinks and children's attractions. Bullfighting shows, Sevillana dance competitions and fireworks are other events that round off the Feria programme.
