The KBr Photography Center of Fundación Mapfre in Barcelona offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the depth and mastery of the work of the Frenchman Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004), considered by many the father of modern photojournalism and one of the great photographers in general of all times.
Through his iconic agency Magnum Photos, which he co-founded, he redefined photojournalism and documentary photography with his humanistic approach and unerring eye for composition. His style is characterized by the use of black and white, meticulous composition and a respect for the authenticity of the moment captured. Among his most notable works are his portraits of famous figures such as Henri Matisse and Jean-Paul Sartre, as well as his moving scenes of ordinary life in Europe, Asia and America.
