Grape harvest festival Montilla

In early September, the town of Montilla in the province of Córdoba in Andalusia celebrates the grape harvest.

The celebration starts off with the treading of the grapes harvested from the local vineyards. This “primer mosto” (first pressing) is an offering to the Virgen de las Viñas. As well as the treading of the grapes in true traditional style, throughout the festival there are also different competitions related to oenology.
