The capital city of La Palma in the Canary Islands boasts this artificial beach of fine, black sand, where visitors can watch beautiful sunrises. It has replaced the previous pebble beach known as Caleta del Varadero, and was opened in 2017. Its creation has brought Santa Cruz de la Palma back into direct contact with the Atlantic Ocean, which it lost in 1949 due to the construction of the promenade still there today. It has a great location in the southern-central area of the promenade, and features lots of access points and public services. Many different activities can be practised here, like beach volleyball, beach football and water sports. There is also a children's play area.
